(I so wanted the title to have some snazzy alliteration, but I couldn’t make it work. 😦 )
Within the past two years I’ve found a small number of authors that captivate me with every book they write. When I see a new book listed on their Goodreads author page I get a little tingle of excitement (Sorry – that sounds a tad creepy) and automatically add the book to my Want to Read shelf (which is getting a bit out of hand, to be honest). Below I’ve listed four books I’ve pre-ordered and am waiting not-so-patiently for.
Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
Releases September 15, 2015
Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble
I have a ridiculous and consuming love for everything this woman touches. I am a super-fan of The Mindy Project, often live-tweeting my thoughts and favorite quotes. I read Mindy’s first book Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) two years ago and it was the first memoir I ever read that made me say “Oh my God, someone else does that?!” Witty, laugh out loud funny, and most importantly: unpretentious, Kaling’s first memoir endeared me to her relatable style, and now I want more.
After You by Jojo Moyes
Releases September 29, 2015
Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Me Before You ruined me. It tore my heart into little tiny pieces, made me ugly cry on my couch, much to the alarm of my confused boyfriend, and gave me the longest book hangover I’ve had to date. Needless to say, I loved it. I loved it so much that I inhaled five more of Moyes’ books in the space of a week and a half. Moyes knows how to write books that make me talk, out loud, to her characters. What are you doing? Can’t you see he is just trying to help? I’ve been wanting to reread Me Before You but didn’t have the courage to face the hours of crying that were sure to follow. Hopefully After You is a good salve for those wounds.
Along the Infinite Sea by Beatriz Williams
Releases November 3, 2015
Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble
The fourth book in the Schuyler family saga was an unexpected treat for me to find. William’s latest book, Tiny Little Thing, just released in June and thus I was pleasantly surprised to find that Williams had another book set to release this year. I haven’t got to read Tiny Little Thing yet, but I know her masterful storytelling won’t disappoint.
The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean
Releases December 29, 2015
Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble
The end of 2014 saw me become a fan of Regency Romance. Before then the only romance novels I ever read were the Night Huntress/Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost. The Regency junkies at That’s Normal recommended MacLean’s Love by Numbers and Rules of Scoundrels series and I tore through them in a flash. Lighthearted romps with breathlessly brazen male leads (got my alliteration!) were just what I needed at the time to break out of a reading slump. So when I need something fun and quick I always turn to one of MacLean’s romances to make me smile. (Sorry for the link dump, I can’t resist recommendations!)
So there you have it, the list of books that make me wish time would go by faster. Have you pre-ordered any books lately? Let us know in the comments and we’ll check them out!
