Tattoo Tuesday

So, it’s been awhile. Between buying/moving into a house, going on a vacation, and working full time there has been zero down time around here. Last weekend I got another (my 6th) tattoo and I’m excited to share it with you all!

Do you have any book cover inspired ink? Have a book or theme you’d like to see featured on Tattoo Tuesday? Let us know below in the comments.

book lover gift guide

When one reach their mid-to-late twenties one finds oneself going through a lot of scary new adult experiences: attending loved one’s graduation ceremonies, watching friends get married, buying a house, knocked up friends everywhere, attending swanky parties, etc. All of these things have one common factor: they require the perfect gift to show appreciation/love/gratitude/excitement.

Finding gifts for the reading-inclined can be difficult, but never fear! We’ve done the hard work already. Check out our first installment of the Ladies of the Library Gift Guide for Book Lovers. We aim to provide many choices for all the different readers in one’s life. Enjoy!

gifts for book lovers

the boozy bookish friend
tequila mockingbird | gone with the gin
There’s nothing like a good literary themed cocktail to show off at a house-warming party.

the anxious bookish friend
harry potter adult coloring book | game of thrones adult coloring book
These books are a godsend! When I find myself riddled with anxious thoughts I spare a few moments to crack open one of my (large selection of) adult coloring books and shade away my stress.

the culinary bookish friend
a confederacy of dunces cookbook | outlander kitchen
Maybe I’m a special kind of nerd, but I’ve always been interested in recipes mentioned in books. When reading the Little House series as a child, I always wanted to make rock candy and try salted pork. Foodie friends will love these!

the house proud bookish friend
print | the great gatsby pillow
Who doesn’t want to show off their literary obsession all over their home? I’m dying for these Kate Spade pillows and Etsy is THE place to find fun bookish art.

So tell me: what other kinds of gifts do you like to give? Do you need gift ideas? Leave a comment below and let our love of shopping help you out!

Fangirl Friday – week 8

fangirl friday header

I think I’ve bought more makeup/beauty products in the past month than I have in the past two years (which is SO not good for my bank account). Here are some recent buys that I am loving (for reference I have a very fair complexion, grey eyes, and combination problematic skin):

Yves Saint Laurent | Mascara Vinyl Couture
I received this as a free sample (Sephora’s points program is amazing) and let me tell you, this is the best mascara I’ve ever tried. You get perfect volume and definition, which does not always happen. I fully intend on using every speck of the sample and then purchasing the full size bottle.

Josie Maran | Argan Enlightenment Illuminator
Another sample from Sephora, this liquid highlighter leaves me looking so glowy and fresh. You can also mix it with your foundation if you want that all-over glow.

L’Occitane | Cleansing and Softening Shower Oil
I’ve been a fan of L’Occitane for a few years now but I’ve just gotten around to trying this product. Amazing! Leaves my skin soft and it has the best warm, rich smell. Definitely a keeper!

Origins | High Potency Night-A-Mins Skin Refining Oil
This oil, which you use at night (3-4 drops will do), has left my skin feeling fresh and I’ve already noticed a difference in my extremely awful problematic complexion.

NARS | Blush in Orgasm
I’ve heard people rave about NARS blush, in the shade Orgasm, for years. It’s lauded as a perfect shade for every skin tone. So I finally broke down and tried it out and let me tell you, everyone was right. It’s SUCH a flattering shade on me, and I put it on my mom (who is darker than me) and it looked awesome on her. The shimmer adds such a glow that you don’t even need a highlighter to go along with it. Peer pressure ftw!

NYX | Liquid Suede in Soft Spoken
And finally, I’ve been branching out into using more lip color and NYX is THE BEST brand out there (at super affordable prices). Soft Spoken is such a lovely brown shade, it works well with my skin tone and doesn’t budge. (Another great and hella affordable brand to try is Colourpop. They only ship in the US but their matte lip colors do. Not. Move. An. Inch. And for only $6 a pop, it’s sooooo worth a look!)

5 Books Angela is Looking Forward to Reading

list list list

My reading has been seriously lacking lately, so I’m using this as an excuse to get myself hyped up about future reads. Check out the books I’m excited to dive into soon.

Fall of Poppies: Stories of Love and the Great War
by Jessica Brockmole, Hazel Gaynor, Evangeline Holland, Marci Jefferson, Kate Kerrigan, Jennifer Robson, Heather Webb, Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig

I won a copy of this book through Goodreads giveaways and can’t wait to check it out. I love Beatriz Williams (as you should know if you’ve been reading here) and it’s initially what drew me to this collection.

The Danish Girl
by David Ebershoff

Okay guys, I lied. I did not get around to watching The Danish Girl a few weeks ago, so my hopes of reading the book first have not been dashed!

by Dolce

I read the original version of Escapade when it was a fanfiction (I love me some fanfiction) so I can’t wait to pick up this version to see what has changed/been added. Dolce is a phenomenal writer!

The Bell Jar
by Sylvia Plath

I’ve been meaning to read this for a while, as I’ve only heard good things about this book. Better get on it.

5. Kindred Spirits
by Rainbow Rowell

New Rainbow Rowell? GIMME!

What books are you looking forward to reading?
